  • Knee Pain Treatment For Russ Jones

Knee Pain Treatment For A World-Class Athlete

    February 21, 2020

Russ Jones was a world class runner in the 1970s through the early 1980s. He was young, healthy and didn’t have any major issues requiring knee pain treatment at the time.

Russ even qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials as a marathon runner in 1979.

However, in 1983 he was hit by a car, which seriously damaged both his knees as well as his right thigh. His doctor told him that he would probably never run again.

Apparently, that doctor didn’t know Russ very well. Six months later he finished fifth in a triathlon in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

For decades after being hit by the car (and enduring multiple knee surgeries), Russ has been active in his age category in multisport racing events where he runs, bikes and swims.

Russ Found A Knee Pain Treatment Solution That Worked

The one constant battle for Russ over the years has been extraordinary knee pain.

Because he is based in Orange County, California, Russ needed to find a place close by where he could get effective knee pain treatment.

That’s when he found Neck and Back Medical Center in Laguna Hills.

After a thorough examination of his knees, the doctors at Neck and Back Medical Center recommended platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.

PRP uses injections of a concentration of a patient's own platelets to speed up the healing process of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints.

In other words, PRP injections utilize an individual patient's own healing system to remedy musculoskeletal problems.

It’s been working extremely well for Russ Jones. Here’s what he had to say in his own words.

“I would like to thank Doctor Sklar for the PRP injections on my knees.

I have been a runner for 50 years and got hit by a car while training for the 1984 Olympic Marathon Trials. I had run a 2:18 marathon to qualify for the 1980 USA Olympic Marathon Trials, however, that is the year the USA boycotted the Olympics.

Due to the accident, I suffered a myriad of knee issues and knee operations. My PRP injections six years ago, and most recently in January of 2020, have helped me more versus those knee operations for a healthy knee to continue my running with little or no pain. I am still going strong and racing well at the age of 65.”

If the PRP knee pain treatments work for an active runner in his 60s, who had suffered for many years prior to the treatments, don’t you think it could help you if your knees are causing you pain?

There’s one way to find out.
